Winston Churchill (I believe) said in his own inimitable way that the UK and US were 'two countries separated by a foriegn language'. There are many cultural differences, but as the world and business in particular homogenises, are these differenes eroding? I'd value your thoughts on what's different in B2B marketing between the UK and US.

B2B in the UK versus the US

"Divided by a common language", I think you'll find is the quote. It's not a reflection on the individuals but In my experience in Asia Pacific UK businesses are more likely to be relaxed about being out in the world and US businesses are more likely to be insular. Why? I don't know but at a very high cultural level possibly because the UK, for centuries, has had to go out to the world whereas the US has had the world come to them.

Distance mostly for us. In the UK it is possible to get face-to-face with clients and prospects quickly and fairly regularly but in the US with the distances make this far harder for our small teams. As a result the best lead nurturing vehicle in the UK is the hands-on sessions we organise whereas in the US it tends to be more web-based with seminars and demos.

I think differences are where you find them. For example, are the differences you could find between regions in England (let alone Scotland, Wales and ireland) any smaller than those between UK and USA. And also the differences between states in the USA are often bigger than those between that state in the UK. So you need to be aware of the differences were relevant but always challenge whether the difference should make a difference to your approach. I think the quote is usually accredited to George Bernard Shaw but Oscar Wilde did write "We have really everything in common with America nowadays except, of course, language’. An example of a difference that doesn't make any difference!
