We spent about six weeks, reading reports and looking at the software on offer. We then committed to a supplier for six months only on a risk-free but paid for pilot which we then adopted. We set some clear objectives at the start of the pilot and then reassessed those halfway through the pilot and at the end. We are still using the software today!

I think the main factors in helpding decide are who and how are people using it and what have they gained from it - ideally found out by directly talking to them.
