Almost two-thirds of marketing professionals are expecting a pay rise, according to a recent survey conducted Robert Walters.
More than a third will be looking for an increase in salary of between four per cent and 10 per cent, an increase of 13 per cent on last year.
However, while fewer marketing professionals are expecting a bonus in the coming year, the research shows the proportion looking for a reward of between six per cent and 15 per cent of base salary has increased.
The survey also reveals a high number will be looking for a change of roles in the year ahead. Over 30 per cent of marketing professionals would like to switch jobs in the immediate term, and 76 per cent at some point in 2014. For many, however, money is not the key driver behind this. Nearly half cite career progression as their chief reason for moving, with only 30 per cent identifying remuneration as the main motivation for looking for a new role.
Tim Gilbert, director of marketing recruitment at Robert Walters, says: “In 2013 we have seen signs of a recovering market and a revival in demand for selected roles such as digital and change communications. We are optimistic that this trajectory will expand and grow, and, with more marketing professionals looking to move, we are optimistic about rises in salary and bonus levels.
“Burgeoning recruitment activity means that businesses must act quickly and ensure hiring processes are transparent and efficient to land the most sought-after individuals. Similarly, employers would be wise to take stock of why marketing professionals are looking to move on, providing new challenges and routes for career progression to boost retention levels.”
