Alibaba puts customers on the box

Online marketplace Alibaba has announced the winning SMEs set to star in its television adverts designed to illustrate how it can help businesses of all types.

The e-commerce company launched the competition to its 750,000 members in May, offering them the opportunity to secure free TV exposure for their business. Alibaba has picked four winners from the dozens of entries it received.

The adverts will run from August 8-29 on satellite and terrestrial channels reaching an estimated 22 million viewers. Winners will also feature in radio spots on LBC, Absolute and Talk Sport.

The winning businesses are: Macintyres, Gangstar Skateboards, TP Electronics and The Talent Shed. Maggie Choo, director of Alibaba.com EMEA said, “Our business was founded on the mission to help small businesses do business anywhere around the world. We believe the competition is the best way to illustrate how businesses of all shapes and sizes can use Alibaba.com to open up global trading opportunities.”
