Alibaba turns camera on existing customers

Ecommerce site Alibaba.com has launched a video campaign designed to show SMEs that it’s not just big businesses that can trade globally.

The B2B campaign will see current Alibaba.com users offer advice and best practice tips to potential suppliers as part of the site’s International Trade Guide. As well as current customers, videos will also be available from experts on topics including setting up an online business, sourcing from overseas suppliers and managing business risks.

Linda Kozlowski, head of international business development and marketing for Alibaba.com said, “Far too many small businesses believe that trading globally is only for big business and is not for them.  But sites like ours really help to bring suppliers and buyers together and what better way to reassure business owners that it can be done than by using our own successful customers to show them how.”

This is not the first time the ecommerce site has approached its customers to take part in a marketing campaign. Last year its customers stared in its television adverts designed to illustrate how it can help other businesses.
