New light has been shed on the shape of Britain’s email spam problem, following the publication of a report by YouGov and email marketing company Pure360.
Among the report’s highlights is the revelation that Londoners receive most viagra-related spam, while the Welsh are most likely to receive bank scams than any other region.
Attempting to draw a practical conclusion from the research, Abi Jacks, head of marketing at Pure360 said, “Despite many brands improving their opt-in process, whereby people only receive their marketing emails if they request them, email spam remains a significant problem in the UK.
“The fact that 56 per cent of those surveyed had frequently received unsolicited email from retailers they haven’t signed up to shows that email relevancy should be top of a marketer’s list for building trust in their brands.”
