Businesses pressure Government to support green economy

Dragon’s Den panellist Deborah Meaden will join 250 representatives from renewable energy companies, charities and trade associations lining up outside the Treasury on 18 October to get the Government to take the green economy seriously.

The action is designed to impersonate the Saatchi & Saatchi advert used by the Conservatives in 1979 – Labour isn’t working – in which a queue of people were waiting under a sign that said ‘unemployment office’. The Stop Climate Chaos (SCC) Coalition of organisations such as Friends of the Earth, RSPB and Oxfam are leading the activity.

Meaden said, “Greening our economy is a financial investment in our future – low-carbon is where business is going and it’s where the jobs will be. But companies are only going to invest in clean British energy if they’re sure the Government won’t pull the rug out from under their feet.”
