Capgemini acquires Purpose

Consulting and tech company Capgemini has acquired social impact agency Purpose.

Financial details were not disclosed. Capgemini hopes to use Purpose’s expert campaigners, creatives, strategists and technologists to transform its business models and engage their stakeholders in meaningful contributions.

Purpose will continue to operate as a Public Benefit Corporation and is intended to run independently and for senior management to remain the same. It will operate within the Capgemini Group under a policy of “Editorial Independence,” ensuring that Purpose retains its own voice.

Capgemini is an enterprise management and data processing company, headquartered in Paris. In 2018, Capgemini launched a global brand – Capgemini Invent – to help businesses stay relevant and digital.

Headquartered in New York, Purpose helps clients bring their social causes to light through purpose-driven campaigns, branding, creative content, and participatory social impact strategies. It has previously launched major initiatives of issues such as refugees to international LGBT rights and established relationships with global brands and corporations, and major philanthropies.

Cyril Garcia, CEO of Capgemini Invent said: “Heightened demands from stakeholders have driven a major shift towards building business with purpose. For many large companies, this has evolved beyond corporate social responsibility to business transformation and the need for a redefinition of business models, practices and culture. Purpose joining Capgemini will bolster the capabilities of our teams that are working closely with senior executives and boards, to envision and build what’s next for their organisation.”
