De Vere Venues scoops £250k Blutopia prize

De Vere Venues is set to benefit from £250,000 worth of marketing investment by winning B2B data specialist Blue Sheep’s inaugural Blutopia competition. De Vere Venues beat over 50 B2B firms who submitted entries o win the competition, including particularly stiff competition from fellow finalists Emap and Office Depot.

The quarter of a million pound prize includes components from the full range of sponsors of the initiative, including access to Blue Sheep’s AIM platform, an Alterian-based customer solution, suppression files from Read Group, training from the IDM and postal consultancy from TNT.

“We’re delighted to have won,” comments Nickie Holland, ecommerce and CRM manager for De Vere Venues. “It’s a fantastic prize and it will really allow us to take a step up with our marketing.” She says the marketing resources provided by the prize will be focused on enabling De Vere Venues to develop a true one-to-one contact strategy for the B2B side of its marketing operation.

Richard Lee, MD of Blue Sheep, explains that the key criteria in the judging of the submission was the focus on delivery of profit, which will be key in helping companies navigate through the economic downturn. He comments, “We launched Blutopia in response to the testing economic climate. Even with reduced marketing budgets, it is vital we communicate to companies the importance of continued investment into data, and the insight derived from it to increase ROI. Blutopia will provide De Vere Venues with the opportunity to undertake a sophisticated customer relationship strategy.”

Blue Sheep intends to make Blutopia an annual competition. This year’s competition was launched in July and the winner was announced at a champagne lunch held in London on September 22nd.
