Ecommerce is an issue marketers should be grappling with according to research from Sage Pay.
The payment systems company’s e-business benchmark report reveals growth among online businesses with 49 per cent of respondents growing over the last 12 months.
The report also reveals the importance of social media in ecommerce. Businesses using Twitter to stimulate demand has doubled from last year to 76 per cent. Sage Pay’s research demonstrates interest from businesses in mcommerce, 41 per cent plan to produce a mobile app, but a slow uptake, only 5 per cent currently have an app.
Simon Black, MD of Sage Pay, said, urges companies to take the initiative. “Businesses have to be proactive, smart and apply what’s right for them. Our report shows e-tailers are rising to the challenge by embracing new technologies, expanding into new markets and innovating with new channels.
Sage Pay surveyed 1000 UK and Ireland based internet businesses from both B2B and B2C sectors. The report will be available to download for free from its website at the end of September.
