The number one reason why people follow brands on Twitter is because they like the brand (55 per cent), according to new research by Nielsen.
While 52 per cent of those surveyed said they followed companies to be notified of special offers and promotions and 51 per cent said it was to stay up-to-date with brand news.
However, ‘to give brand feedback’ came last on the list (27 per cent), behind ‘access to exclusive content' (30 per cent) and ‘freebies’ (33 per cent).
These reasons are true for both B2C and B2B brands. An individual is unlikely to press ‘follow’ if they dislike your brand and being notified about special offers and news is always a bonus.
So, B2B brands to ensure they are offering their audience interesting content, while sharing information about new services and products.
