Sanjay Dholakia, CMO at Marketo, reveals how marketers can engage with customers through technology without being creepy

How did you get into marketing?

I say that I have worn lots of different hats. I’ve been a CEO, a GM, a CMO, and a strategy consultant. But at a DNA level I consider myself a strategic marketer. I love storytelling, positioning, competitive dynamics – I like winning. Ultimately, that is what a marketer’s role is. Our role is to give voice to a company, to its position in the market and ultimately help the company and other functions win.
