PROFILE: Anna Hutton My Marketing Team, CBS

I have always been fascinated by marketing – my grandfather set up one of the first marketing departments in the UK at Smiths (the watch and instrument company) – I guess it's in the blood. Once he organised a photo shoot with Stirling Moss and ended up pulling my father out of school to stand in as the boy receiving the watch from Stirling when the original model failed to turn up.

My roles have gradually evolved from marketing assistant where I learnt all aspects of the marketing department through to becoming more involved in running the marketing team and being involved in aligning the strategy to corporate objectives. I studied for my MBA at Henley, specialising in marketing frameworks, and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and am on the committee of the CIMCIG – the CIM's Construction Industry's Group.

The one thing I really value in marketing is my team; that old adage of “you are only as strong as your weakest link” is so true. However the one thing I marvel at is the readiness of everyone to help each other. We often get tight deadlines and people rally round each other, even though we are spread throughout various offices.
