BRANDING NEWS: IBM releases 'smallest ever video'

IBM has produced a stop-frame video animation showing dancing atoms to promote its research into atomic data storage.

Billed as the world’s smallest stop motion film, a Boy and His Atom is comprised of individual carbon monoxide molecules rearranging and changing shape.

Andreas Heinrich, IBM's principal scientist for the project, said: "This movie is a fun way to share the atomic-scale world."

"The reason we made this was not to convey a scientific message directly, but to engage with students, to prompt them to ask questions."

The video can be viewed below, and more information can be found over on the IBM research site.
