BRANDING NEWS: Intuit joins Startup Britain campaign
Software company Intuit has joined Startup Britain’s scheme to support small businesses with card payments.
Intuit will offer retailers taking part in the scheme ‘Intuit pay for free’ via its app. SMEs will be able to take credit and debit card payments using their smartphone or tablet.
A survey for Intuit, of 1000 small businesses in the UK, found that just 19 per cent of micro-businesses – firms with less than 10 employees – currently accept card payments. Almost half, a total of 47 per cent, said they would accept cards if there was a more affordable way of doing so using their smartphone or tablet.
Mark Little, UK managing director, Intuit said, “Pop-up tenants need to be able to accept card payments but it can take weeks to get set up, the equipment and transactions can be expensive and require long-term contracts. Intuit is proud to support PopUp Britain with Intuit Pay, giving these start-up retailers a way to get set up in minutes to securely take card payments on their smart phone or tablet – with no commitment and no contracts.
