Facebook to exceed YouTube for video advertising spend on social media

Over two-thirds of US marketers plan to spend money on social video ads, with Facebook set to enjoy the most investment.
According to the research from Animoto, 70% of marketers plan to spend money to advertise video content on social media over the next 12 months.
Facebook will benefit the most from this investment, with two-thirds of respondents planning to increase spend.
Facebook beats YouTube and Instagram for mobile video ad spend
The next most popular platform was YouTube at 42%, with Instagram (27%), Twitter (21%), LinkedIn (10%) and Pinterest (9%) making up the rest of the list.
The number of global social media users recently passed the three billion mark, meaning an estimated 40% of the world’s 7.5 billion population is now active on social.
Overall social media ad spend is set to increase to $23.5 billion worldwide by 2021, according to a Forrester forecast, with internet ad spend in the UK surpassing the £10 billion mark for the first time.
A separate report from eMarketer predicted UK ad spend on mobile will reach £7 billion during 2017.
