MOBILE NEWS: BlackBerry announces $94 million Q4 income
BlackBerry has revealed its end of year results, reporting company revenue of $2.7 billion.
Its Q4 income was $94 million thanks to the launch of its BlackBerry 10 operating system, and accompanying phones. This represents an increase of $80 million compared to the previous quarter.
Thorsten Heins, president and CEO of BlackBerry, said, "We have implemented numerous changes at BlackBerry over the past year and those changes have resulted in the company returning to profitability in the fourth quarter."
The results will make for encouraging reading for the company but BlackBerry is far from out of the woods, as it continues to fight to retain relevance against Apple, Google and Samsung in the mobile space.
BalckBerry also revealed its co-founder Mike Lazaridis will step down from his roles as vice chair of the board and director of the company on 1 May.
