MOBILE NEWS: New BlackBerry OS released to dev community

BlackBerry parent company Research in Motion has today unveiled the new iteration of the BlackBerry operating system.

BB10 is to shoulder a great deal of burden as RIM has so much riding on it being accepted as a widely-used business-backed success.

A video sneak peak has been released.

The developer community has been issued with prototype BlackBerry 10 software packages and dev versions of new devices in order to ensure a meaningful app portfolio upon launch.

There is little doubt that getting developers on-side is going to be key for any BlackBerry resurgence. But the jury is still out on whether this new operating system is going to be enough to tempt people away from their iPhones and Androids.
