NEWS: Diversified communications UK launches ‘Women in IT Week’ initiative

The IT Service Management Show (SITS) has announced the launch of its new initiative, ‘Women in IT Week’.

Organised by Diversified Communications, the initiative hopes to inspire more women to pursue a career in the technology and IT service sectors by promoting the important contributions successful women in the industry make.

From 1 to 5 June Diversified will post blogs written by female IT leaders to draw attention to success stories in the industry. The organisation is also encouraging all women working in the sector to share their stories under the title ‘How my journey in IT began…’.

Meanwhile, a keynote panel discussion focusing on the importance of championing equality in IT will take place at SITS15, an event for IT service management professionals in London on 3 to 4 June. The opening day keynote will be chaired by well-known IT trainer, Karen Ferris. She said: “I think it’s important to give back to an industry that has served me so well."

This campaign follows research by BCS that revealed less than one in six of the 1.1 million people working as IT specialists in the UK are women.
