NEWS: Google search starts displaying tweets

Tweets will now be shown in Google’s mobile search results, following an announcement that the two brands would work together earlier this year.

The new feature will mean more traffic for Twitter, and an increased number of trending and opinion pieces displayed on Google.

Mobile users can tap on a tweet in their search results to be taken directly to the tweet and view additional content.

Currently the new feature is only available to US internet users and has not yet been rolled out on desktop. However, Twitter has said that it will expand the feature in the coming months. The social network said in a blog post: “By deeply integrating Twitter’s real-time content into Google search, we hope you find it easier than ever to explore your interests across both Twitter and Google.”
