NEWS: Royal Mail to trial Sunday service

Royal Mail has announced it will trial a Sunday service for parcels in response to the 'changing market'.

With an increasing number of goods being ordered online, the company, which was privatised last year, will open an estimated 100 offices on Sunday afternoon for customers to collect their parcels. It will also deliver parcels to addresses within the M25 motorway.

From June, Royal Mail's business express delivery service Parcelforce Worldwide will also offer a Sunday service.

Moya Greene, Royal Mail's chief executive, explained: “Through these new Sunday services we are exploring ways to improve our flexibility and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.

"The support of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) has enabled us to respond quickly to a changing market."
