SALARY SURVEY: Marketing pay on the up
Marketers in London enjoyed a 3.4 per cent salary increase this year compared to 2012, according to research from the 2013 Robert Walters Salary Survey.
This figure compares favourably with other professions, with lawyers seeing a 1.2 per cent rise, accountants shouldering a 0.1 per cent decrease in pay and HR professionals seeing a 0.7 per cent decrease.
Those marketers working on brand and in the digital space have seen the largest increases in pay, with the survey suggesting that the minimum contract hourly rate is up to £15 for a product and propositions executive and £25 for a product and propositions manager. The per-hour rates for digital specialists rose by similar figures.
Tim Gilbert, director of marketing recruitment at Robert Walters, said, “Although the market unquestionably remains tough, these figures highlight how businesses continue to fully recognise the importance of their marketing activity to business acquisition and retention. Corresponding sentiment among marketers also reflects this trend.”
