SEARCH NEWS: Google buys ironic B2B newspaper ad
Google bought a page of newspaper advertising to highlight that print advertising is not the answer businesses are looking for.
The ad, which read, “You know who needs a haircut? People searching for a haircut. Maybe that’s why ads on Google work,” was designed to highlight the targeted digital advertising opportunities on its network.
The search giant took out the ad space in Canada’s ‘Globe and Mail’ newspaper, and was initially tweeted by reporter Steve Ladurantaye, who said, “An ad for Google ads in today’s Globe demonstrates the value of print ads, yes?”
