SEARCH NEWS: Three times more clicks for top ranked sites
Websites ranked number one in Google’s search results pages receive three times more clicks as those placed second, according to research published by SEO company IM3.
Such statistics highlight the importance of competing for targeted keywords, as it seems the difference between first and second place on SERPs is potentially larger than it may appear.
Neil Palmer, IM3’s director, says, “Think of times when friends recommend a good service to you, let’s use a painter and decorator for example; you’ll often go ahead and use them without speaking to their competition, purely because of the referral from someone you trust.
“That’s exactly how the online world exists today. We’ve grown to trust Google’s number one result, and will often rely on this trust when making a decision on which websites to visit.”
