SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS: Drivers Jonas enters the Twitter stream
Commercial property consultants Drivers Jonas has become the latest business to utilise Twitter to reach its business audience.
Since joining the micro-blogging site at the beginning of March, the company's marketing director Richard Crook says they have been "pleasantly surprised" by the market's reaction.
After realising Twitter's growing popularity in the US and UK, digital agency Chameleon Net recommended that Drivers Jonas become a member and communicate with the social community for sourcing prospective business opportunities, publicising news and events, connecting with potential graduate recruits and continuing with establishing its presence in the market.
"The flexibility and immediacy of Twitter fits perfectly alongside our existing communications," says Crook.
So far the company has gained a following of 127, which says Crook, includes interest mainly from the media for its press releases and clients such as those in the construction and airport industries for updates on its property projects. He, along with the company's website content manager will be responsible for the updates.
The company intends to promote its feed by placing a link on its website, intranet and in its newsletter to clients and alumni.
The tweets have generated two positive business leads for the company, one of which is a prospect that has never used the businesses' services.
Crook says there are not many competitors to date on Twitter, as there are only a few actual corporate twitter sites in the property world.
Drivers Jonas has no set plans for its next step on Twitter but says that it is likely to follow the movements in the market.
The company is also a member of professional business networking site, LinkedIn.
