SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS: Facebook launches search tool
Facebook has launched a new search tool, Graph Search.
The new functionality looks through Facebook data and allows users to combine phrases instead of simply using keywords.
Search returns will currently only include people, photos, places, and interests. Facebook is said to be still working on the functionality and hopes to include things like song listens and posts in the future.
Speaking at the launch event and highlighting the fact it won’t rival Google, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg said, “We’re not indexing the web, we’re indexing our map of the graph – the graph is really big and its constantly changing.”
Graph Search also integrates with Microsoft's Bing search engine to include information drawn from outside Facebook's data reserves.
Users are being invited to join the waiting list for Graph Search beta.
