SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS: Twitter launches sticky advertising
Promoted Tweets from companies will now remain sticky at the top of Twitter feeds, following the social media network’s biggest step towards including a meaningful advertising presence into its business model.
Tweets posted by companies you follow will remain at the top of your timeline, even if they are hours or days old, following the update.
Though each tweet will still only be displayed once, the move is likely to divide opinion as some purists may argue that it removes Twitter’s focus on genuine real-time updates.
Aware of this possibility, Twitter made the following statement on its blog last week, “From the start, our philosophy around advertising has been simple: We put our users first and strive to create products that enrich the Twitter experience for every Twitter user.”
