Twitter to ‘stop counting photos and links in character limit’
Twitter is set to stop the use of photos and links counting towards its 140-character limit, according to a recent Bloomberg report.
Bloomberg’s unnamed source said the change could be made within the next two weeks.
Although the draw of Twitter is its brevity, the rumoured move will certainly give users more flexibility on the social media site.
Links currently take up 23 characters in a tweet, even when automatically shortened by Twitter.
Earlier this year the company announced it would be extending the limit on direct messages to 10,000 characters.
This announcement comes at an interesting time for the social networking giant, which has struggled to attract new users and has seen its share price decline by more than 70 per cent over the past year.
