Exec jet operator comes down to earth with Bath rugby sponsorship

Executive jet operator Bookajet has signed a lucrative one-year sponsorship deal with Bath Rugby club, defying both the credit crunch and high oil prices.

The charter company, which operates nine planes out of Farnborough Airport, had been shopping around for a Premiership rugby sponsorship for months but settled on Bath just weeks before the season kicks off.

Managing director of Bookajet Christian Rooney said that the fit between its audience and rugby’s is “obvious”.

“Rugby is a fantastic sport, many of our regular clients are fans and with the increasing profile of players in recent years the sponsorship of the Bath rugby team seems to complement our brand perfectly,” he said.

The Bookajet brand name will appear on the back of player’s shirts and pitch-side at Bath’s home ground, The Recreation.

Rooney believes the sponsorship will increase its profile among the company’s target market of business people who charter jets for short trips though he also hope that it will “reach those who wouldn’t necessarily think executive travel could be affordable.”

This is not the company’s first foray into sport as Bookajet was “the exclusive jet provider” to David Beckham and his family during his time at Real Madrid.

The company would not disclose how much it has invested in the Bath contract.
