Weeks after Facebook’s IPO, it has launched a programme designed to encourage SMEs to advertise on the platform.
The social network has launched a ‘Business boost programme’ that includes workshops for SMEs across the country, a downloadable guide and free advertising credits.
The credits are currently only available to UK businesses, with other European countries to follow soon. To be eligible the page must have been categorised as a local business at the time it was set up and it will need at least 50 fans.
Simon Milner, policy director for UK&I at Facebook said, “Many small businesses have thrived despite difficult economic conditions in recent years, thanks to savvy entrepreneurs spotting the opportunity to benefit from new technologies which bring people closer together. We want more businesses to prosper in this way, which is why we are rolling out this series of initiatives to give all businesses, whatever their digital experience to date, the confidence to use Facebook as an efficient and highly rewarding platform for growth.”
