Google acquires artificial intelligence company DeepMind

Google has acquired UK-based artificial intelligence company DeepMind.

Technology website Re/code has reported the search engine paid a whopping £242 million for the algorithm and machine learning specialist.

Founded by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman the company website states: ‘We combine the best techniques from machine learning and systems neuroscience to build powerful general-purpose learning algorithms.’

This follows Google’s recent string of artificial intelligence-based purchases, which have included the acquisition of DNNresearch and Boston Dynamics.
