Google acquires Wildfire

Google has bought Wildfire Interactive, a social media management platform.

Launched four years ago, and funded in part by Facebook, Wildfire allows brands such as Amazon and Virgin to manage advertising and content across all the main social networks.

Google’s acquisition is the latest in a string of recent social media acquisitions, with Oracle and Slaesforce also making high profile moves.

The exact details of the deal have not been made public but industry experts are quoting figures around $250 million.

The news was revealed in a blog post by Jason Miller, product management director at Google.

He said, “With Wildfire, we’re looking forward to creating new opportunities for our clients to engage with people across all social services.

“We believe that better content and more seamless solutions will help unlock the full potential of the web for people and businesses.”
