Google encourages UK businesses to go mobile

Google is encouraging businesses to embrace the mobile web through the UK roll out of its GetMo application.

GetMo is designed for businesses looking to create a mobile website, as well as incorporate mcommerce into their site. The GetMo website contains best practice advice, case studies and a list of vendors, chosen by Google, to help businesses meet their mobile website aims.

Ian Carrington, director of mobile advertising, Europe for Google, said, “Businesses need to get mobile in order to provide a positive user experience for their customers. At the moment, business are not keeping up with consumers.”

Mcommerce supplier MoBank has been confirmed as a vendor for GetMo. Dominic Keen, chief executive of The MoBank Group said, “Statistics show that over 15 per cent of all online traffic is now coming from mobile, therefore retailers that use websites which don’t adequately support mobile transactions are losing the equivalent to one day of business per week.”
