Visits to Google Plus increased by 1269 per cent last week, according to data from Experian Hitwise.
Data from the online behaviour analyst revealed Google Plus jumped from being the 54th most visited social network/forum to the 8th. The visits are expected to be even higher as the data doesn’t include mobile traffic or traffic from the Google Notification Bar.
Last week, 21 Sep, the new network went public allowing anyone to join, previously only a closed group of people with invitation privileges could register. While the removal of invitations is the likely cause for the huge increase in traffic, data shows most users are still ‘influencers’ or ‘early adopters’.
