A new record was set last month, when Google’s websites attracted one billion unique users in one month, according to comScore research.
It is the first time any organisation has attracted this number of unique visits.
Microsoft was in second place, with 905 million unique, Facebook was third with 714 million, while Yahoo found itself in fourth spot with a mere 689 million unique users.
The research is based on a sample of two million Internet users, with figures pieced together in a similar way to that in which TV viewing audiences are calculated.
