The advertising links displayed on Google’s search results pages will sometimes appear at the bottom of the screen, rather than in their traditional position to the right.
The search giant explained on its blog the changes had been made “to give users a more seamless and consistent online experience.
“In many cases, we have found that displaying ads below search results fits better into the user’s flow as they scan the page from top to bottom. On average, this placement performed better than side ads in terms of click-through rate in our tests.”
The design change comes in a week when Google have rolled out a plethora of amends relating to its online products, including an in-depth redesign of Gmail.
