Google to make websites mobile friendly

GoMo is a new initiative from Google to help businesses create more compatible websites for mobile devices.

Google reports that by 2013, more people will use their mobile phones rather than PCs to access the Internet. If a website is hard to access or difficult to navigate on mobile devices this could see a decline in traffic for businesses’ websites.

GoMo is described by Google as a website that allows businesses to ‘go mobile’, learn about what makes a good mobile site and how to build one.

Website resources on GoMo include:

• View your website as it appears on a mobile device – the GoMoMeter analyses your site to make mobile recommendations.
• Learn about the importance of mobile – infographics and data illustrate the latest mobile trends.
• See good examples of mobile websites – learn from other businesses and get access to best practice guidance.
• Find a mobile builder that can help – a list of mobile developers who can help build mobile websites.
