Guernsey receives Chinese Trademark

A joint industry and government initiative, Guernsey Finance, has succeeded in gaining an official trade mark from one of the BRIC markets experiencing positive economic growth for the small island of Guernsey.

Acting on behalf of Guernsey Finance, Branding and translation company KL Communications received approval for the island’s Chinese Trademark. It has been registered as ‘finance and island’ in one package, making it difficult for similar locations to associate themselves with finance.

The closest equivalent is London as in China it is known as ‘London Finance City’. Peter Niven, chief executive of Guernsey Finance said, “This level of detail may seem quite small but will have a huge significance in China.  I am very confident that our branding solution will further enhance Guernsey’s profile in the China market”
