US media is reporting that database giant InfoGroup, owners of B2B data specialists InfoUK and InfoUSA, has been put up for sale.
According to reports at least 33 potential bidders are reviewing the InfoGroup’s books. InfoGroup has not denied the report saying it will follow a course that “optimizes value for all our shareholders.”
InfoGroup launched its UK subsidiary InfoUK in 2008 headed by former Experian and Yell marketer Richard Lloyd.
InfoGroup, which also owns global research firm ORC, saw a decline in its third-quarter sales from $145 million to $125 million year on year but an increase in net profits.
Net profits totalled $4.8 million, compared with a loss of $8.7 million in the year-earlier period.
InfoGroup has also reached a tentative agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission to settle an investigation into the company’s spending and records. InfoGroup has not admitted any wrong-doing.
