Facebook has added video to its photo-sharing app, Instagram, allowing users to shoot between three and 15 seconds of footage.
Available on iPhone and Android, Instagram video allows users to add one of 13 distinctive filters.
In addition, iPhone users are offered a ‘cinema’ facility, which stabilises their clips to counteract camera shake.
Facebook has launched the update as a clear rival to Twitter’s Vine app, which also lets users share video.
There are a few differentiators though; Instagram videos have a time limit of 15 seconds, the videos do not loop and users can choose their thumbnail images.
