Facebook-owned photo sharing app Instagram has announced it will be expanding its in-app advertising to the UK, Canada and Australia users later this year.
This follows the success of its US ads, which launched in November and highlights Facebook’s move to a mobile-first company. Instagram said in a blog post: ‘In some cases [the results were] well above the ad industry’s average for performance’.
However, monetising the app via adverts has been a slow process because of backlash from many users concerned ads may hamper their experience.
