The app-based picture sharing network Instagram has extended its offering to include web profiles.
Over the next week it will be rolling out web based profiles to all current Instagram users. The web profiles will feature a selection of recently shared photographs above users’ profile pictures, much like the cover or header photos other social networking sites have adopted. Users will also be able to comment and like photos as well as follow other users.
Despite the extra web functionality Instagram said, in a blog post, users will not be able to upload pictures from the web as ‘Instagram is focused on the production of photos from mobile devices.’
