Instagram now has 300 million monthly users, surpassing Twitter’s 284 million headcount.
However, despite it’s popularity (it only hit 200 million users nine months ago) the photosharing app says it will remain authentic.
Kevin Systrom, Instagram’s CEO, explained in a blog post: ‘As more people join, keeping Instagram authentic is critica – it’s a place where real people share real moments. We’re committed to doing everything possible to keep Instagram free from the fake and spammy accounts that plague much of the web, and that’s why we’re finishing up some important work that began earlier this year.’
Instagram has been deactivating and deleting spammy accounts to enhance user experience.
