The return of Downton Abbey last night highlighted that employee engagement is hardly a new thing. We’ve all watched riveted as disgruntled employees have lost dogs on purpose, put soap under their employers’ feet and generally created discord amongst the rest of the staff. But does it matter in real life as opposed to a soap (sorry, dreadful pun) and what can it teach us about how to engage with our staff. Can anyone bring Thomas (or Mr Barrow as he prefers to be called) round? The subject will be addressed in ‘Do you love your job?
