LinkedIn adds company status feature

Professional social media network LinkedIn has added new functionality allowing companies to post status updates.

Organisations with company pages can now post status updates, of up to 500 characters, that will be seen by their followers.

The move allows companies to have a communicative presence on LinkedIn similar to the one that exists on Facebook Pages, and is likely to be hugely advantageous for B2B brands.

Ryan Roslansky, director of product management at LinkedIn, wrote a blog announcing the new feature.

In it he said, “This is a great way to build engagement with customers, potential employees and prospects alike.

“Nearly half of our members follow over two million Company Pages on LinkedIn.”
