LinkedIn announces further Microsoft integration

LinkedIn will soon be adding to your Microsoft Outlook experience, thanks to its new integration with Microsoft’s Outlook email product.

Outlook Social Connector will no longer require a download, and will become standard Outlook functionality.

Following a one-time LinkedIn sign-in, Outlook users will see their contacts’ details expanded with LinkedIn profile information, including images and network activity information.

David Breger, product manager at LinkedIn, explained in a recent blog that, “Not only will you be able to keep track of what your LinkedIn connections are discussing and sharing, you’ll have easy access to photos, contact information and LinkedIn profile details right at your fingertips – without ever leaving Office.”

Further LinkedIn/Microsoft tie-ups are expected to be announced soon. Expect Google, eager to push its Google Apps business solutions, to be taking note.
