LinkedIn reaches 15 million UK users

LinkedIn has passed 15 million members in the UK, a 50 per cent increase since September 2012.

This is followed by an increasing number of students and recent graduates signing up to kick-start their professional careers.

The brand has decided to celebrate by releasing an infographic which reveals new data about the make-up of its UK membership.

The image includes releasing a selection of some of the most common professions in the UK. On LinkedIn there are:

1.     374,711 engineers

2.     48,679 solicitors

3.     12,530 journalists

4.     7090 hairdressers

5.     4083 farmers

The social site also revealed London has more members than any other UK region (2.3 million). This follows Birmingham with 284,000, Manchester with 250,000 and Reading with 213,000

Meanwhile, the biggest UK employers on LinkedIn are RBS, followed by Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, Tesco and the NHS.

Josh Graff, director of LinkedIn marketing solutions in EMEA, commented on the news: “We are thrilled to reach this milestone. It reinforces our position as the number one platform for brands to engage an influential and affluent professional audience. We’re encouraged by the growth we’re seeing among younger professionals joining the platform. They’re the most socially savvy and engaged generation to join the professional workforce and are the business decision makers of tomorrow.”
