‘Creative’, ‘strategic’ and ‘motivated’ are three words marketers need to scrap in 2016, according to a LinkedIn study.
The online professional network analysed the profile summaries of its UK marketing members, compiling a top 10 most-used words and phrases.
LinkedIn revealed the last week in January is often the time when most UK members update their profiles.
The top 10 2016 buzzwords for marketing profiles are:
- Creative
- Strategic
- Motivated
- Passionate
- Track record
- Enthusiastic
- Driven
- Successful
- Innovative
- Ambitious
Danielle Restivo, senor manager, global communications programmes at LinkedIn commented: “Social media offers marketers an incredible opportunity to connect and engage with their target audiences. And with 20 million professionals now on LinkedIn in the UK, marketers need to do all they can to make themselves stand out from the crowd.
“We wouldn’t describe ourselves as ‘motivated’, ‘driven’ or ‘enthusiastic’ in real life situations, so why do it on a LinkedIn profile? We’re encouraging marketers to show off achievements through photos, presentations and examples of other work to demonstrate how they are ‘passionate’ or ‘creative’ rather than use overused buzzwords.”
