Marketers’ total earnings hit post-recession high

Marketers’ total earnings has hit a post-recession high, new research by EMR has revealed.

Marketers’ salaries have climbed for two successive years, making a strong recovery after dropping by nine per cent in 2012/13. These figures show the annual rate of pay growth has almost doubled from five per cent in 2013/14 to nine per cent in 2014/15.

Consequently, the industry is concentrating on investing and retaining talent. The annual basic salary has increased by eight per cent, giving professionals an extra £4,375, while a 12 per cent rise in bonuses means marketers will pocket £880 more.

Simon Bassett, managing director at EMR, said: “This year marketers are rightly reaping greater rewards for their role in driving economic recovery. Their efforts have earned them a substantial annual salary uplift, with a third of marketers also seeing an increase in their annual bonus.

“Marketers have high hopes for 2015 with nearly half expecting an increase in staff numbers and 62 per cent are ‘optimistic’ or ‘extremely optimistic’ about next year’s economic outlook. Over 40 per cent of marketers anticipate moving jobs in the next year and to retain the very best talent, we recommend that companies not only look at providing competitive pay packages but keep their staff motivated and supplied with fresh challenges.”
