Marketing jobs increase by 7%

Marketing roles advertised have increased by over seven per cent since the final quarter of 2013, new research from the European Jobs Index created by recruitment Robert Walters reveals.

Marketing jobs advertised are now higher than the roles available in various sectors, including accounting (up four per cent), IT (down six per cent) and retail (down four per cent).

Companies recruiting in London generated the biggest increase, with quarterly advertised marketing vacancies growing in volume by over a fifth. Plus, north west England also saw marketing job roles advertised rise by 13 per cent in the same period.

Tim Gilbert, director of Robert Walters, said: “Increasing numbers of advertised marketing vacancies reflect a renewed sense of confidence permeating the market. Candidates are frequently enjoying offers from multiple prospective employers, leading to generous counter-offers to remain in their current roles.

“With job numbers increasing we expect competition to intensify among employers to secure the services of the best talent. To land their preferred candidate we are encouraging hiring managers to streamline recruitment processes whilst adopting a pragmatic attitude to remuneration.”
